LTCC technology is an effective method to mine thick coal seams, realizing one-time mining of thick coal seams at full height, which is a revolutionary technology to mine thick coal seams, solving the problems existing in the slicing mining technology, such as stress concentration caused by the coal pillar left behind in the upper layer, the easy to fire in the goaf and difficulty in the roadway support at the lower layer, the large amount of relative emission of gas in the first layer, the low output and the high cost. Compared with large mining height technology, LTCC has the advantages of less investment, low cost, low energy consumption, low emission, and adaptable to large changes in coal seam thickness. China started to research and test LTCC technology in 1982, and has achieved great success and major scientific and technological innovations in the past 40 years. LTCC has become the main method of extracting thick coal seams in China, and it is also the landmark technology of China in the world coal mining industry. LTCC is a comprehensive technology, which mainly includes panel layout, coal mining system, top coal fracturing, top coal drawing technology, surrounding rock control, and coal mining equipment.
