Geoarchaeological heritage sites hold a significant appeal for geotourism, offering a unique blend of geological, archaeological, and cultural appeals. Our study is an attempt to explore geotourism potential of geoarchaeological heritage sites in the Vindhyan Range, Deogarh Lalitpur, using SWOT-AHP analysis. This region is a unique blend of geological marvels, geomorphological attractions, archaeological treasures, and a rich cultural history, including exquisite rock-cut sculpture art, making it an alluring prospect for geotourism. The main objective of our study is to reveal the inherent strengths and weaknesses of these sites, along with the opportunities they can take advantage of and the threats they need to protect against. We seek to offer valuable insights for the sustainable growth of geotourism while conserving the region's rich heritage. To assess the geotourism potential of these geoarchaeological heritage sites, we utilized a two-fold approach, combining a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) study with the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) methodology. Strengths include diverse geological characteristics, intriguing rock-cut sculptures, historical significance, and a rich cultural legacy, which serve as a solid foundation. Weaknesses such as poor infrastructure and limited accessibility provide challenges. The peaceful environment of Devgarh presents opportunities for geotourism. Threats, including environmental degradation and mismanagement of rock-cut sculptures, necessitate careful management. The AHP technique supports our SWOT analysis by prioritizing aspects based on local people, experts, and tourist’s feedback, guiding holistic geotourism development initiatives.
