Study of Conditions at the Krueng Langsa Watershed River Borders to Support River Disaster Mitigation in Langsa City, Aceh

The Krueng Langsa watershed is one of the river flows that divides the Langsa City area into several regions. This river is often used by local communities for their survival. The erratic development of climate change also affects flood discharge in Krueng Langsa which originates from upstream flows and disturbs areas along river borders. So, it is necessary to conduct a study regarding the current conditions of the Krueng Langsa Sub-watershed river border area as a form of control-ling disaster mitigation. The aim of this research is to determine the current conditions of river border are-as in several sections of the Krueng Langsa Sub-watershed (Pondok Keumuning Village, Sidorejo Village, Meurandeh Dayah Village, and Baroh Village) as well as data on disasters that have occurred. The research method consists of image data collections, survey data collection, and direct interviews with the community. Based on the results, the condition of the river border in Pondok Keumuning village shows that the community uses the river border as agricultural land with the condition of the river bank still protected, if it rains it does not impact the housing of nearby residents. Meanwhile, in the villages of Meurandeh Dayah and Sidorejo, flood disasters often occur when the intensity is high and the riverbanks experience erosion of the river. In Baroh Village, there is no impact on flooding when the highly rain intensity because it has a wide river section.
