Landslide is a natural occurrence that frequently results in the loss of property and life of those who live in the surrounding area. Landslide susceptibility maps are very important for engineers, geologists, and land use planners for prevention and mitigation of landslide hazard in the area. This study presents landslide susceptibility analysis at Selangor River Basin. In this study, topographical data and remote sensing data were collected and processed using geographic information system (GIS). Five causative factors for landslide occurrence were used for this purpose. The causative factors that influence the landslide occurrence include slope, soil class, lineament density, land cover and land cover, and aspect. These factors were analyzed for construction of thematic data layers. The ArcGIS software’s Weighted Overlay Method (WOM) was used to reclassify and overlayer the theme maps. Consequently, a GIS landslide susceptibility map was created. The study area was divided into high, moderate, and low sensitive zones by the susceptibility map. The landslide incidence served as a means of verifying the susceptibility mapping data. The ArcGIS software’s Weighted Overlay Method (WOM) was used to reclassify and overlayer the theme maps. Landslide is a natural occurrence that frequently results in the loss of property and life of those who live in the surrounding area. Landslide susceptibility maps are very important for engineers, geologists, and land use planners for prevention and mitigation of landslide hazard in the area. Consequently, a GIS landslide susceptibility map was created. The study area was divided into high, moderate, and low sensitive zones by the susceptibility map.
