Rechargeable batteries provide electricity for electric vehicles (EVs). The benefits of EV include zero carbon emissions, environmentally friendly, and less noise. Nevertheless, the primary drawback of EV associated with charging. To optimize EV utilization, EVCS should be placed at a strategic location. Determining the location of charging stations for EVs is quit challenging. In this study, geographic information systems (GIS) and analytical hierarchy process (AHP) techniques are utilized to manage data for the location selection of EVCSs. Three step process are used: (i) identification of five main criteria Society, Social areas, Municipal, Urbanity, Transportation and 15 sub-criteria (ii) criteria weights calculation using AHP, (iii) production of stabilities maps using GIS. The study area is Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia capital city). The results show that suggested locations are suitable for EVCSs, and will serve as a guide to administrators, urban planners, policymakers, researchers and EV charging infrastructure designers. This will decrease driving anxiety from EV users to the barest minimum level.
