Malaysia is geographically proximate to Singapore, situated adjacent to southern region of Johor. As Malaysia embarks on urban farming initiatives within its cities, there exists a wealth of knowledge to glean from Singapore’s experience, enabling the refinement of guidelines within Malaysia. By assimilating and adapting these lessons, Malaysia can position itself as a formidable force in urban farming, akin to its neighbouring nation. While Singapore has made significant strides in this domain, Malaysia stands at a juncture where the adoption of urban farming practices is crucial. The challenge lies not only in the absence of comprehensive guidelines but also in the need to catch up with the urban farming advancements in Singapore. In addressing the numerous challenges that often arise due to ambiguous guidelines, this study aims to compare urban farming practices in both countries domestically and internationally. It examines similarities and differences with specific attention directed towards elucidating pertinent guidelines applicable to high-rise structures. To fulfill these aims, this research employs a thorough re-view of standards, guidelines, and papers from various sources. The findings underscore that Malaysia has the potential to selectively implement guidelines that align with its context. The findings of this study indirectly address recurrent concerns highlighted by previous research, consequently fostering a more profound comprehension of successfully implemented guidelines in other countries.
