This paper presents an experimental investigation of the flexural behaviour of pre-cast concrete beams with panelling formwork and compares them with traditional reinforced concrete beams. Two specimens were tested under four-point loading as supported beams spanning 3 m between supports. The beam size proposed was 150 mm × 300 mm with H12 as compression and tensile reinforcement bars. Mild steel of size R8 links were installed at 150 mm intervals from centre to centre to prevent shear failure of the beam. The study aimed to investigate the feasibility of using pre-cast panelling as a construction component in an industrialized building system and assess its reliability in terms of flexural strength. The results show that the pre-cast concrete beams with panelling have similar flexural behaviour to the traditional reinforced concrete beams. The proposed pre-cast panelling formwork for beams has the potential to be used as one of the component structures in an industrialized building system, which can speed up the construction time with reliable flexural strength.

摘要
