Since the Qing Dynasty, as the thought of numerology deepened and the contents of official calendars were overly simplistic, there emerged a trend among the populace to privately compile what is known as the annual almanac for profits. The content of these almanacs not only included the auspicious and inauspicious activities of the year but also extensively compiled various rules of deities and taboos, resembling a practical encyclopedia of numerology applicable for the year. Previous academic research on almanacs has largely remained at a preliminary introduction level. This paper firstly attempts to clarify the evolution of various forms of comprehensive almanacs over the centuries, focusing primarily on the annual almanacs of the Qing Dynasty as observed by the author.
