Revolutionizing Academic Certificate Verification with Smart Contract

The process of verifying academic certificates is still manual in this age of digital era. There is a need for real-time verification yet dealing with vulnerabilities inefficiencies of manual verification of certificates. Using Blockchain technology, Smart contract and Distributed file system Academic institutions can build a robust, user friendly, trusted, and tamper-proof solution for certificate verification. In the proposed solution, academic institutions submit their student certificates to a certificate upload portal which hashes and saves the certificate on IPFS and submits content ID and Student profile to smart contract. Smart contract creates a signed copy of the information and stores it on Blockchain. The stakeholders can retrieve and verify the stored certificate by using student details and optionally submitting digital copy of the issued certificate. This paper presents a workable, realistic implementation for credential verification, adding to the expanding conversation on Blockchain uses in educational settings. Furthermore, the security of the smart contract is checked by slither and Mythril security analysis tools.
