Vaccines have been crucial in preventing infectious diseases worldwide, driven by continued development and scientific advances. However, vaccine distribution and misinformation challenges persist, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the period of social isolation, serious games, also known as educational games, have gained popularity as they combine entertainment and learning. This article introduces COVIDGAME, a virtual reality (VR) game designed to raise awareness of COVID-19 vaccination. COVIDGAME uses immersive virtual reality technology to engage players, encourage learning, and promote behavioral change. Also, to enhance player immersion and create a more captivating experience, a heartbeat sensor was implemented to influence the gameplay. The game can dynamically adjust the intensity and pacing by monitoring the player’s heart rate, creating a more immersive and emotionally engaging environment. Preliminary experiments show promising results regarding the features and gameplay of COVIDGAME. The next steps for the COVIDGAME will include implementing additional game stages with different types of viruses and using other biofeedback sensors.
