Design of Permanent Magnet Flux Switching Motor for Automotive Applications

Permanent magnet Flux Switching Motors (PMFSMs) for automotive applications are the subject of increasing attention. Eight FSM models for different applications are designed using finite element methods with eight slots and four poles. Design and comparison of these models for door closure assist, latching and clinching, electronic throttle control, seat adjuster, and other applications are carried out in this paper. Critical parameters are calculated, and the values are checked with the requirements.
