Although with the progressive understanding of the pathological classification of gliomas the World Health Organization (WHO) has proposed highly individualized treatment strategies based on their molecular pathological types, maximal safe resection remains the first choice for glioma treatment [1–5]. Since gliomas locate in various positions of the brain, how to perform maximal safe resection of lesions that invade or are adjacent to eloquent areas while preserving brain function has become a hot and difficult issue in the field of glioma surgery.
