Yoga Asanas Posture Detection and Correction with Live Stream Data Using a Mobile Application

Yoga is a holistic practice that encompasses meditation, breathing exercises, physical postures, and relaxation techniques, all aimed at fostering a healthier, more joyful, and harmonious way of life. Increased participation in yoga is a positive development, as it has been proven to have many health benefits. Yoga would be effective only if the proper posture of the yoga asana is maintained. In the existing methods, the asana done by the person is predicted, but the posture cannot be corrected to maintain the recommended posture. The proposed system is a mobile application that gets the live video stream data from the user’s webcam and predicts their posture, recommending the correct posture for the effective asana. The main asana focused in this system are Marjaryasana, Balasana, Ustrasana, Paschimottanasana, Virasana, Parvatasana, Bhujangasana, Savasana, and Uttanasana. These asanas mainly focus on reducing menstrual pain and associated symptoms like anxiety, mood swings, and anger that are commonly experienced during menstruation in women. The system utilizes the Posenet model to predict the key points of body posture. The angles are calculated based on the posture and used to determine the position of body parts and provide recommendations for correct posture. Thus, the suggested system will help the user to achieve the correct yoga posture. This application delivers superior results compared to existing methods.
