This article examines the complex issues that arise in the organizational, social, and technological domains when implementing smart cities. Complexity and interoperability arise when different systems from different manufacturers are integrated. The volume of data collected is so great that it raises worries about cybersecurity and privacy because of potential unauthorized access. Furthermore, the initial expenses linked with constructing intelligent infrastructure pose financial obstacles, especially for towns situated in economically disadvantaged areas. Our research offers a succinct literature analysis, acknowledging the crucial roles that citizen participation, public acceptance, and data privacy resolution play in the success of smart cities. The paper also presents a simulation of a smart city traffic control system that uses a Cisco Packet Tracer and Internet of Things sensors and actuators. By providing a solid basis for well-informed decision-making and strategic planning, this research seeks to provide insightful guidance to scholars, urban planners, and decision-makers navigating the intricate terrain of smart city development.
