The infratemporal fossa is a space located below the floor of the middle cranial fossa and posterior to the maxilla. The fossa extends posteriorly to the glenoid fossa and the temporomandibular joint. Superiorly and laterally, the fossa blends into the temporal fossa and the belly of the temporalis muscle.
