Research Progress on Aerodynamic/Hydrodynamic Design of Cross-Over Water for the Trans-Media Aircraft

Water-to-air trans-media aircrafts possess the unique capabilities of traditional aircraft for aerial flight and submersibles for underwater navigation, offering distinctive advantages in stealth and maneuverability. The transition between media, characterized by abrupt changes in forces and torques, as well as disturbances in gas-liquid environments, is a critical issue in the design and research of amphibious aircraft. This paper reviews the recent developments in water-to-air trans-media aircrafts, summarizing representative studies on the emergence from water. It discusses the characteristics and key issues in the design research related to emergence, describes the current state of aerohydrodynamic simulation numerical modeling for emergence processes, and analyzes the progress of experimental research. Finally, it summarizes the challenges faced in current research and provides an outlook on future studies concerning trans-media emergence issues.
