This chapter employs a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to elucidate the mechanisms through which urban form indicators affect heat island intensity. The chapter begins by constructing an explanatory framework for these impact mechanisms, proposing that the influence of urban form on heat island intensity can be categorized into intensification mechanisms, mitigation mechanisms, and external environmental modification mechanisms. Subsequently, it analyzes each mechanism in detail by combining the quantitative correlation rules between urban form indicators and heat island intensity.
