This study investigates the effect of risk perception on trust dynamics in human-robot interaction (HRI) using a virtual reality (VR) fire evacuation scenario. We controlled risk levels and measured their impact on trust, compliance, and propensity to trust. Contrary to expectations, results suggest that risk perception does not significantly affect these metrics. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on trust in high-stakes HRI and highlights the need for further research into the complex interplay between risk and trust in human-robot partnerships.
