As urbanization continues to reshape our world, the utilization and expansion of metro transportation systems are on the rise, making it increasingly challenging to manage large crowds. This paper presents the design, development, and implementation of MiKa (Metro Information Kiosk Agent), an autonomous humanoid robot designed to provide assistance to passengers in navigating through the metro system, providing tickets, answering FAQs, and providing information about the metro system. User trials in both controlled environments and real-world metro stations received positive feedback on MiKa’s appearance, multilingual capabilities, and overall user experience. Results suggest a strong preference for robot assistance among younger demographics, highlighting the potential of MiKa for enhancing passenger experience in metro systems. Overall, MiKa is a significant advancement in autonomous robots for public service, offering valuable insights for future robotics projects in similar domains.
