This study assessed the potential of maritime culinary tourism in Bangka Belitung Province to boost Indonesia’s blue economy and gastrodiplomacy specifically in Belitung Island. Belitung Island has many marine culinary delights such as Sup Ikan Gangan, Pais, Pulut Panggang, Lempah Kuning, and Mie rebus Belitung, which could become gastro-destination icons. Belitung is also renowned for its unique coffee shop tourism, with its unique flavors and atmosphere. Indonesia’s blue economy program promotes a sustainable economy by optimizing marine and fishery resources. The ISUTW, Indonesia’s gastrodiplomacy program, does not include seafood in its national food list. This research examines how marine culinary tourism can support the blue economy and gastrodiplomacy and how the synergy of these two programs can improve local welfare. This qualitative study used historical, anthropological, economic, and public diplomacy approaches to explore Belitung’s marine cuisine. It hypothesizes that Bangka Belitung’s maritime cuisine can bolster Indonesia’s blue economy and gastrodiplomacy, competing with dishes such as Tom Yum. In-depth analysis can help policymakers address marine culinary tourism needs, promote economic growth, and improve Indonesia’s gastro-tourism and branding. Indonesia’s marine culinary tourism can boost its economy and its gastrodiplomacy. Economic and financial policymakers need this knowledge to create effective policies in this sector.
