摘要
Karangkamulyan protected areas in Ciamis District have the potential natural and cultural resources that serve biodiversity conservation and archaeological remains. The Karangkamulyan site is associated with historical stories about Ciung Wanara. This story is part of the history of the Galuh kingdom. At the Karangkamulyan site there are several archaeological objects in the form of stone structures that form certain patterns. The stone structures are called Pangcalikan, Sipatahunan, Sanghyang Bedil, Panyabungan Hayam, Cikahuripan, Panyandaan, grave of Sri Bhagawat Pohaci, Pamangkonan, and grave of Adipati Panaekan. These archaeological objects are interpreted as the location of events in the Ciung Wanara story. At this time, Karangkamulyan functioned as a protected area attractions. The utilization of this site on the one hand can provide economic benefits to the surrounding community and on the other hand is vulnerable to environmental threats. This problem is of particular interest in order to get the model of sustainable tourism management. To discuss these issues, research was conducted using qualitative methods. Techniques of data collection in the field through direct observation, accompanied by an interview, were applied. The results showed that in order to benefit the tourism sector through local community, economic and environmental quality can be improved through conducting research on an ongoing basis to improve the management of facilities and quality of field officers. It also needs to set a policy governing the use through zoning. Thus Karangkamulyan protected areas will be maintained, and the interests of community as well as visitors will be fulfilled.
