Three dimensional LiDAR is the main supporting technology for self-driving vehicles and autonomous robots, while the high cost is the main obstacle for general small scale consumer applications. This paper presents a novel method for developing a low-cost 3D LiDAR system by combining 2D LiDAR with servo motor. Detailed design process of hardware structures and generation of 3D point cloud images are described as well.

摘要

Three dimensional LiDAR is the main supporting technology for self-driving vehicles and autonomous robots, while the high cost is the main obstacle for general small scale consumer applications. This paper presents a novel method for developing a low-cost 3D LiDAR system by combining 2D LiDAR with servo motor.
