Zinc-Oxide-Modified Waterborne Epoxy Coatings
摘要
Waterborne epoxy coatings are a type of epoxy coating system where the epoxy resin and hardener are dispersed in water, rather than in organic solvents. These coatings are known for their environmental benefits, lower volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, and excellent performance characteristics. Waterborne epoxy coatings offer a sustainable and effective solution for many protective and decorative applications. Proper formulation and application techniques are key factors for maximizing the benefits and performance of these coatings. The incorporation of nanofillers within the epoxy matrix has gained momentum for improving the overall characteristic performance properties of the nanocomposite coating. In general, Zinc Oxide (ZnO) as a nanofiller has achieved huge research interest owing to its unique properties and for promoting uniform dispersion within the matrix. The present chapter includes the characteristics, benefits, formulation considerations, applications, processing, and literature work pertaining to modified waterborne epoxy coating nanocomposites with ZnO as nanofiller.
