摘要

Graphene oxide (GO) has shown promise as a nanofiller to enhance the properties of waterborne epoxy coatings. This chapter explores GO-modified waterborne epoxy coating systems’ synthesis, characterization, and application. Methods for uniformly dispersing GO nanosheets into the epoxy matrix are discussed, including ultrasonication and chemical functionalization. The effects of GO incorporation on key coating properties such as mechanical strength, adhesion, corrosion resistance, and barrier properties are investigated. Characterization techniques, including microscopy and spectroscopy, provide insights into the microstructure and performance of the nanocomposite coatings. Optimization of GO loading levels and processing parameters are shown to yield waterborne epoxy coatings with significantly enhanced durability and protective capabilities compared to unmodified formulations. The chapter highlights the potential of GO-reinforced waterborne epoxies as environmentally friendly, high-performance coatings for various industrial applications.
