Non-tariff Trade Barriers: The New Weapon in Supply Chain Sanctions
摘要
Trade competition between nations intensifies in the era of globalization. Beyond tariffs, there are more discreet and intricate non-tariff trade barriers, employed to safeguard a country’s economic interests or suppress competitors. This chapter unveils the complexities of non-tariff trade barriers, focusing on the analysis of three commonly encountered types: Rules of Origin, Technical Barriers to Trade, and Trade Remedy. These barriers often emerge in regional trade agreements and domestic trade laws, imposing various restrictions on imported and exported goods. Such measures not only impact the flow and efficiency of global trade but also pose significant challenges to the development of international businesses. The chapter provides practical advice for businesses to enhance their competitiveness in the international market amidst these challenges.
