Stage Art in China

Since the May Fourth Movement, the rise of civilized opera, stage art has been favored by more and more audiences. Much experience has been accumulated over decades. Before the national liberation, there were set designers and scenery painters who specialized in the study of stage art in Shanghai and Chongqing, and in the prosperous period of modern Shanghai drama, stage scenery painting was even more prosperous, and a number of excellent scenery painting and set designers appeared, such as Zhang ZhengyuZhang, Zhengyu, Lu YangchunLu, Yangchun and etc. They were the most influential figures in stage art in the thirties, and then influenced the development of stage art and the formation of the teaching system in New China, and played an important role in the training of teachers.
