According to some statistics, up to January of 2023, there were approximately 500 drama theatres and troupes in China. In each province or autonomous region there is a “People’s Art Theatre”, very often there are municipal drama theatres within a province. There are also drama theatres in the army system. In recent years, some privately owned drama troupes were formed. In this part of the book, brief introductions to five most important and influential theatres are given.
