This chapter presents a vision for the future of engineering education. Design engineers will increasingly rely on simulation and modeling software, but there is a danger of believing the results without knowing and understanding the basis of the models and the simplifying instructions. For this reason, it is vital for graduates to be trained in the fundamental principles of science and engineering. Likewise, communication and management skills will be part of engineer’s tool kit. Generative AI, virtual, and augmented reality tools will have their place, but the same reservations concerning the use of simulation and modeling apply. Engineers work in the real world. The Australian Council of Engineering Deans have published a report entitled: “Engineering Change: The Future of Engineering Education in Australia,” parts of which are reproduced in this chapter.

摘要
