Smart technologies nowadays enable retailers and manufacturers to significantly improve customer engagement and conversion inside the stores. Smart sensor-enabled displays provide a platform for personalized, contextual customer engagement, as well as precise measurement of customers’ behavior and engagement. The experiment with igigi computer-vision enabled in-shelf displays indicates that customers’ dwell time and attention time at shelf depend on customers’ movement toward and from the shelf. The patterns of movement and attention differ across product categories. These findings have significant implications for retailers and brand owners on how to position smart displays for maximum congruence with customers’ movement patterns and high attention time at the shelf.
