The relentless spike in human population combined with globalization and industrialization has created an immense stressful situation for the Earth and its natural resources, resulting in a crisis for all organisms that depend on the planet for survival. With the aim of addressing and reducing the destructive impact of human actions, the exploration of lignocellulolytic enzymes is seen as a potential alternative for producing biofuel, food, deinked paper, and for various other industries. The ability of these enzymes to convert lignocellulosic biomass into simpler units makes them suitable for bioconversion resulting in the production of valuable products. Microorganisms are considered the sole source for obtaining these enzymes, in comparison to other organisms. Consequently, this chapter centers on a significant application of these enzymes, namely biodeinking, and outlines the procedure for obtaining deinked paper. In addition, various types of lignocellulolytic enzymes based on the sources to obtain are also discussed.
