In this chapter, we give a brief review of the basics of complex geometry needed for the survey of Kodaira’s elliptic surface theory in Sect. 2.2 . There, the main important tools will be the long exact sequence of sheaf cohomologies, the Siegel theorem, the Serre duality theorem, the adjunction formula and the Riemann–Roch theorem and its extension.
