This chapter introduces the principles of solid state materials for hydrogen storage and the related technologies for industrial level applications. It summarizes the classification, crystal structures, hydrogen sorption reactions and properties of solid-state hydrogen storage materials, including alloys and metal hydrides, complex hydrides, ammonia boranes and their derivatives, and physical adsorbents. Additionally, numerical simulation models for the design and optimization of solid-state hydrogen storage and transportation systems are presented, as well as an overview of their current applications. Future research directions and perspectives of solid state hydrogen storage materials in hydrogen energy fields are also highlighted.
