Wellness tourism seems to have been a prominent growing industry in the Indian travel market. Recognising the inclinations of visitors is a concern for stakeholders in the process of designing the marketing campaigns of wellness destinations. The current study intended to fill more valuable insights in the literature by employing an analytical hierarchy process (AHP) to rank the motivators of visitors visiting wellness places in India, a South Asian country. Data were collected from the top wellness tourism destinations from North India: Ananda in the Himalayas, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand; Vana, Dehradun, Uttarakhand; Wildflower Hall, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh; Amarvilas Spa, Agra, Uttar Pradesh; and Kayakalp, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. According to the study findings, relaxation and escape factors and spiritual health emerged as top priority drivers augmenting visit intentions of wellness destinations. This study presents a complete foundation of motivations for marketing companies to assess the capabilities and resources required for the future growth of wellness destinations. Identifying the prioritisation of factors contributing to wellness destination visiting intents would allow practitioners to create more refined positioning.
