This chapter briefly highlights the current status of Indian public finance and India’s public finance and policy challenges in recent years. Then, it introduces six broad topics of the volume: fiscal policy and macroeconomy, public expenditure policy, tax policy, fiscal transfers policy, public debt policy and fiscal imbalance and environment and climate finance policies. It also provides a short note of the issues and challenges covered under six broad topics of this volume, which is dedicated to Dr. Raja J. Chelliah.
