This chapter gives an overview of the innovation adoption model, which is regarded as the last critical stage of new product development. Given the assumption that new products will not be automatically accepted, the objective of this chapter is to identify new products’ characteristics that can positively and negatively influence their chance of adoption. It explores five dimensions of the adoption factors of a new product: relative advantage, compatibility, observability, trialability, and complexity. Further observations regarding innovation adoption in a technology-intensive society are provided for leaders of technology businesses.
