Extending the concept of generic submanifold from complex geometry to contact geometry is not a straightforward task due to the Reeb vector field \(\xi \) that is an essential object in the definition of an almost contact manifold, but is missing in complex geometry. For this reason, several concepts have been proposed during the time as the counterpart in contact geometry of generic submanifolds in almost Hermitian manifolds.
