In 2000, C. Gherghe introduced in Gherghe (Demonstratio Math 33:151–157, 2000) the concept of nearly trans-Sasakian structure of type \((\alpha , \beta )\) which generalizes trans-Sasakian structures in the sense as a nearly Sasakian structure generalizes a Sasakian one. A trans-Sasakian structure is always a nearly trans-Sasakian structure, but the converse is not true.
