Digitalisation provides new tools for various industries and sectors, moving them towards a new evolution path. The Architectural, Engineering, Construction, and Operation (AECO) industry may have experienced some lag, but it has constantly been catching up over the past decade. The main drivers of digitalisation may include Industry 4.0 goals, a global workforce shortage, more accessible digital technologies, and increasingly complex projects. Government plays a crucial role in transforming the AECO industry through its policies, roadmaps, incentives, and training. This study investigates governmental efforts to transform the AECO industry by promoting and implementing digital technologies in three commonwealth countries: the UK, Singapore, and New Zealand. This study evaluates the various transformation roadmaps, strategies, and initiatives the governments undertake to shape the future AECO industry through a literature review of articles, reports, and policy documents. The evaluation highlighted a more government-driven approach by Singapore and the UK while a more government-private partnership approach in New Zealand. The findings of this study will help the AECO industry to address future challenges of adopting digital technologies, thus increasing productivity and efficiency.
