Low carbon energy systems describe a widely used set of approaches used as an alternative means to generate energy with a view to curbing the emission of greenhouse gas (GHG). Amongst these are hydro, solar, wind and biomass. The fossil fuels have been in use to generate electricity since at least mid-1920s. The industry is one of the main contributing direct factors towards the observed changes in global mean temperature, rainfall patterns and storms already globally. And this led to the drafting of the landmark Paris agreement which seeks to strengthen the international community response to climate change. This chapter presents a global heat analysis and contribution by NASA. More information about African continent in terms of the precipitation pattern, the rise in sea level, and the impact of climate change on food security and health are thoroughly discussed.

摘要
