The determination to make a difference was in the foundation of the federation, hence the name Chethana GPLF, meaning awareness. Being in proximity to Bengaluru, the influence of the urban economy prevails among the rural population of the Doddanallala panchayat in Karnataka, the area of operation of CGPLF. The robust governance, inclusivity in the executive committee, and democratic functioning of the federation have generated a strong sense of ownership among its members. Several efforts have been made to enhance livelihood, including forming different producer groups to harness the local capacities. Convergence has been attempted actively with the panchayat. Limited efforts have been made toward promoting social action. Specific instances of trust deficit with the credit process of some banks have cropped up, which could impact the long-run SHG-bank linkage.
