5G technology works under the concept of connecting everything and everyone such as devices, machines, and objects. The data speeds in 5G were multi-Gbps, and it had features such as less latency, great data-handling capacities, availability, and uniform user experience. The insufficient worldwide coverage, usage of millimeter waves and cybersecurity risks in 5G technology led to development of 6G technology. 6G networks use higher frequencies to provide higher capacities and lower latency. Some of the key technologies behind 6G are Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine learning (ML), Distributed radio access, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (IRS) and Terahertz communications. 6G communications uses cognitive technologies like AI/ML to enable handling of excessive data traffic, faster data transfer speeds, lower latency, and increased spectrum sharing. To achieve the objectives like enhanced QoS and speedy data transmission, mobility, and less power consumption, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence can be incorporated alongside 6G Communications. In this paper, we will be discussing the transformative aspects of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the area of 6th Generation (6G) communications. An in-depth analysis of the key roles played by ML and AI in shaping the future of 6G communications is briefed out along with importance of 6G technology, fundamentals of ML and AI, and about the incorporation of the two key technologies in 6G wireless communications.
