This chapter aims to present the progress in the field of elderly education and culture since China entered the aged society in 2000 and explore relevant achievements, challenges, and countermeasures. Using national census data, national sample survey data, and other sources, this chapter describes the history and current situation of cultural education for the elderly, analyzes the evolution of typical and key policy texts, discusses the progress and characteristics of the policy regarding cultural education for the elderly, and summarizes the main achievements and challenges faced by China in this field. Finally, it proposes suggestions for building a cultural education system for the elderly with Chinese characteristics on the basis of analysis and reference to an international audience.
