Parametric Design Method of Ball-Cage Type Constant Velocity Universal-Joint Housing Based on DriveWorks Pro

There are many kinds of ball-cage constant velocity universal-joint shells, and different design methods cause too many drawing versions and too long design time. Based on the design requirements of universal joint shell, this paper compares and analyzes the difference of parameters of existing products, and proposes a parametric design method of ball-cage type constant velocity universal joint shell through DriveWorks Pro. Fast generation and flexible adjustment of design models by presetting key design parameters, including size, shape, and material properties. Experimental verification shows that this method can significantly improve the design efficiency, shorten the design cycle, and ensure the consistency and accuracy of different personnel's design, and promote the design of universal-joint shell to product standardization, serialization and modularization.
