As the main component of thin coal seam shearers, the drum bears the functions of loading and cutting, and its performance has become an important factor restricting mining efficiency and production safety. To solve the problem of low efficiency in installing thin coal seam shearers, this paper uses the Discrete Element Method (DEM) to study the effects of particle water content, drum vibration frequency and drum amplitude on coal loading rate. By using the discrete element simulation software EDEM (Engineering Discrete Element Method) to simulate the single factor loading performance of the drum vibration amplitude and frequency, the drum vibration parameters that achieve the optimal loading rate at different coal water contents were obtained. The action law and influence mechanism of the drum vibration parameters during the loading process under different coal water contents were analyzed. Research found that as the vibration and amplitude of drum increasing, the coal loading rate gradually increased within limits. Special attention should be paid on the vibration and amplitude of the drum. This research provides guidance for the application of drum vibration forms in wet coal mining processes.
