Tourism Potential Development for Sambirejo Village with the Dewi Sambi
摘要
Sambirejo Village was officially approved as a Tourism Village in 2018 but until 2021 the village has not been shown to be an attractive rural tourist destination to visit. This is due to the absence of good data-based tourism village management and the absence of a tourism development master plan owned by the village, even though a tourism awareness group has been formed. This chapter is aimed at mapping tourism potential as well as opportunities and challenges for its development into village-based tourist destinations by using a qualitative method involving the village government, Pokdarwis members, which are tourism village practitioners. Data through direct observation techniques, focus group discussion, interviews, and documentation are analyzed qualitatively. This chapter reveals three categories of tourism potential possessed by the tourism village of Sambirejo to be become the goddess Sambi, namely natural potential, cultural and historical potential, and human-resource potential. The challenges for developing this village are the capacity of Pokdarwis members and community participation, as well as competition with other tourist villages. These challenges can be addressed by carrying out intensive communication and collaboration with various relevant parties and asking for assistance from practitioners and academics.
