Linkage Study Between Culture and Tourism: Perceptions of Academics, Visitors, and Local Residents
摘要
Culture and tourism have a symbiotic relationship that benefits each other. Culture is vital to tourism, and it is the catalyst for the establishment of tourist incentive to visit. On the other hand, tourism is a medium that will allow culture to survive in the long run. To produce it, management should synergize culture as a tourism draw. The purpose of this study is to assess management of culture as a tourism product through the perspectives of academics, visitors, and locals. This study employs a qualitative approach supported by the triangulation data collection method. Interviews with six informants, including academics, tourist attraction managers, and the regional cultural preservation secretariat, were supplemented with narratives from other informants from the local population, the private sector, and village officials. The findings demonstrated a conflict between the views of respondents and informants; on the one hand, they stated that cultural management was good, but on the other, there were still numerous flaws, particularly in integrating culture as a tourist attraction. Integrated management of culture and tourism is required to connect numerous items that have previously been disconnected, such as Banyumas Kota Lama as a cultural development Centre and the Baturraden Tourism Area as a tourism development Centre. On the one hand, the Soetedja Arts Building, which serves as the Centre stage for arts and cultural acts, has yet to fulfill its role as a center for staging cultural attractions that attract tourists.
