Climate Change and Quality of Life: What Affects the Happiness of Citizens?
摘要
Local municipalities’ perceptions of climate change and people’s subjective evaluation of quality of life (QoL) are discussed. Climate change has an impact on QoL, and there is a need to address the negative impacts of climate change on QoL. There are various definitions of QoL, including objective conditions and subjective evaluations. The objective conditions are perceived by local municipalities as the severity of climate change impacts and reflect their mitigation and adaptation measures. In this chapter, we use a questionnaire survey to clarify how local municipalities perceive the impacts of climate change and to what extent they are implementing adaptation measures. In addition, we clarify how residents perceive the local environment and how this is related to residents’ recognition of happiness. Then, finally, we discuss the relationship between the local municipalities’ perceptions of climate change and people’s subjective evaluation of QoL.
