Carbon-based nanofillers (C-bNFs) have gained attention for their remarkable properties and functional effects in various environmental applications. With their unique properties and versatile functionalities, they offer new opportunities for addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainability. These properties make them ideal candidates for enhancing the performance of energy storage devices, improving the efficiency of water treatment systems, mitigating environmental pollutants, and enabling sensitive environmental sensing. In energy storage, nanofillers like carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene enhance battery and supercapacitor performance due to their high electrical conductivity and large surface area. These nanofillers contribute to improved energy storage, water treatment efficiency, environmental remediation, and sensing technologies. They offer enhanced energy storage capacity, stability, and cycling efficiency. In water treatment, nanofillers demonstrate exceptional adsorption capacity, reactivity, and tailored surface chemistry, enabling efficient removal of contaminants. For environmental remediation, C-bNFs can be utilized for the adsorption, degradation, and transformation of pollutants, offering promising strategies for environmental cleanup. Additionally, nanofillers are used in sensing technologies for environmental monitoring, allowing the development of highly sensitive and selective sensors for real-time pollutant detection. Despite their advantages, challenges remain, including the need for large-scale synthesis methods and addressing potential environmental impacts. In this book chapter, the research and discussion focus on C-bNFs, which have garnered attention for their environmental applications across various sectors in the field of nanoscience. Particularly, their potential in reducing the escalating CO2 emissions is researched, considering their mechanical strength, hollow structure, high specific surface area, and chemical stability.
