This article explores bifurcation behavior of a Brushless DC (BLDC) motor drive operating with PI controller-based field-oriented control mechanism. In this study, gain of the PI controller is considered as the bifurcation parameter. Investigation for occurrence of different nonlinear behaviors like limit cycle oscillation, quasi periodic or chaotic response is conducted by plotting bifurcation behavior of the system against variation in controller gain. The key objective is to obtain the basin of attraction for the controller gain to ensure occurrence of application specific response, i.e., either limit cycle behavior (electric vehicle) or chaotic dynamics (mixing, compaction).

摘要
