Policies and Practices on School Education in Japan After the Pandemic: How Have They Changed and What Are the Challenges?

Japanese Schools Closed Nationwide from February to May 2020 due to Corona Pandemic This chapter elucidates how policies for primary and secondary education in Japan have changed after this simultaneous school closure and what challenges remain. Furthermore, it discusses the changes in practice and challenges in schools after the pandemic: ICT education, personalized education and well-being are being promoted by policy. Challenges arose at the school, and the case study will discuss how the principal and teacher responded with leadership.
